In the sun

Skin awakens to its thirst

welcoming the rays like a long-lost lover

desperately holding on to each warm caress

like a soft blanket

knowing it won’t last forever

In the sun

lips become translucent raspberries

glowing red from the inside

finally admitting to themselves

that they want to be squeezed

in the sun

eyes become prisms

as they begin to emit their own light

reflecting

deflecting

polarizing and analyzing each ray

as the iris tries to decide

which colors to wear
