Born amongst your horses
I looked for an escape
outside your sphere of influence
In darker shores far away
Misled by my own ambition
I ended up lost in the side streets
knocking on prison doors
shackling myself into false safety
Until one day I smelled the ocean
and remembered the horses
as my heart skipped a beat
the scent led me out of the maze
following the road to freedom
back down to the beach
where I can be again
free amongst your wild horses
And this is how I came back running
from the staleness of this dungeon
to the vastness of your heart
so that I can run again
amongst your wild horses
so that I can breathe again
the salty ocean air

This is exactly how I feel when I take a great hike in a pristine natural environment. September 24-October 20, 2019, I hiked the Camino De Santiago de Compostela in Galicia, Spain. The villages, mountains, woods, small roads in the realm of daily nature was my religion, my freedom, meeting fellow pilgrims from around the world. I was in my element. Also, hiking the highlands in Greenbrier, West Virginia, USA, & the coast of the Indian Ocean in South Africa & the Tetons of Wyoming, USA & the mountains in Canada & the Amalfi Coast in Italy……I could go on…..bring on that Bohemian spirit. Thank you for sharing this beautiful piece. You are my kindred spirit and friend. Peace. ✌️🙏🎈
