Time

There is a point beyond the horizon

where time is generated for each of us

It rides on the northerly wind

and arrives in invisible parcels

to be opened only at the time of use

It is acquired by inhalation

nurtured by the speed of our blood

and only when it feels ready

does it decide to reveal itself

As it becomes deeds

It becomes flowers and sunsets

It begins to slowly wilt

retreating into the rock formations to become a fossil

aging gracefully into a still life of salt crumbs

waiting to be awakened again

by the wind
