When Art Fails

Beware of people who tell you that art and politics should never mix: they have zero values and questionable morals and believe that a pretty picture or catchy tune can be judged in isolation, even though this same picture, and that song, may be instruments for sanitizing reality and funding genocide.

Fascism and genocide have always hidden in plain sight behind the most disgustingly sweet bubble gum pop, and that’s why Ed Sheeran was the perfect hideout. Needless to say, I cannot name a single song of his. I only listen to anti-systemic music that prefers to paint life in its true colours, and to aim in changing this ugly world, not conforming to it. Sheeran didn’t want to change the world. He wanted to monetize it.

Robert Kraft, the owner of Gillette Stadium where Ed Sheeran was to perform, is a well-known Zionist. He founded the Foundation to Combat Antisemitism i.e. “Make Genocide Self-Defence Again” and has funded the Stand Up to Jewish Hate campaign i.e. “Let’s Kill All Palestinians” with more than $20 million. He is the one who asked Ed Sheeran to drop Macklemore, an outspoken anti-genocide artist, from his support line-up in the upcoming concert.

It is frightening that we live in an age where we have to single out Macklemore as an “outspoken anti-genocide artist”, as if “normal” artists are expected to be pro-genocide. In theory, pro-genocide artists can exist, but Ed Sheeran is not even one of them. He is simply looking for cash, and that is why he bowed down to Kraft, as I’m sure he would have to Hitler. Needless to say, if you bought an Ed Sheeran ticket, your money follows the long, invisible, convoluted chain of the Zionist lobby and ends up directly or indirectly in the bank coffers of the IDF. When billionaires dictate what our rock artists can and cannot say in stadiums, then these are not stadiums. They are cemeteries where democracies sing their final song.

So, the problem is not Kraft. Kraft is a Zionist, and he does what Zionists do. The problem is that Ed Sheeran is not who we thought he was. We thought he was an artist, but it turns out he is a businessman, just like Kraft. Basically, Sheeran is a fraud. The music, the lyrics, the emotions, are only the bubble gum coverup. But the bubble has now burst over Sheeran’s face, and it’s not pretty. Even the rest of his support line up are now pulling out. They will lose a lot of money and piss off a lot of “Krafts”. But that is what real artists do: they are willing to take a massive financial hit in order to stand up for what their art is about.

So what was Ed Sheeran’s art about? Nothing, probably. We will never know anyway, because he’s done now. He might as well have been an AI artist. So fuck both him, and his Zionist guitar.
