When an object circles the drain, you will notice that it accelerates right before it disappears into the hole. The same exact physics apply to a civilisation circling the black hole of its existential blind spot: at times of climate crisis, conflict accelerates as a direct result. And at times of conflict, the climate crisis accelerates as a direct result. If a civilisation disrespects the planet during the good times, you can be sure that it will disrespect it even more during the tough times. And if humans fail to collaborate during times of abundance, they will fail three times as much to find common ground during times of scarcity. Not my opinion. I’m just reading out the history for you, directly from the book.
As more of these self-destructive feedback loops are added to the mix, they all pull towards the same direction: the toilet drain. They become the Coriolis force that forms a hurricane, an unstoppable system that now feeds on itself. Those who fail to notice that they are circling the toilet hole are helpless turds: they have the vantage point of a cat stuck in the laundry machine, and the intelligence of the detergent. Not only do they have no idea that they are spinning, but they also don’t know which direction is up or down, East or West, hot or cold. They don’ know what El Nino is, other than two Spanish words stuck together.
Even though they caused it.
Humans did not just add CO2, pollution, and 8 billion consumatronic parasites to this planet. They added entropy acceleration. The extra energy Earth now absorbs from space, plus the extra heat from Amerisrael’s triple-tap genocide venture capitalism, are the equivalent of pressing the ON button on a blender. Prepared to be juiced, whoever and wherever you are. This planet is a closed system, just like the blender. There is nowhere safe for you to go. We all spin, wherever and whoever we are. Don’t expect your salary at the end of the month. Nothing will be normal.
