Down where the beach shimmers
there is an invisible timewarp.
As you step into the fluttering starlight
you may find yourself 10,000 sunsets back.
You’ll see a young version of yourself
carving the same footsteps on the same beach
as the sea observes you like a watchful parent,
unable to hold on to you
knowing you’ll be back one day,
just like the birds return each year.
And this is how you go back and forth
rekindling with the salt that made your bones
dancing with the seaweed
as you wonder how many sunsets remain
Until one day,
the beach rolls itself up into a ribbon
and disappears into the wormhole
