The Dark Lesson of Eurovision 2026 No One Talks About

As Iceland becomes the 5th country to withdraw from the 70th Eurovision Song Contest, the annual music festival which is Europe’s biggest cultural event and one of the world’s most watched, news coverage fails to scratch below the surface on what this means beyond Eurovision, beyond TV, beyond even politics. What is happening to Europe’s biggest cultural institution is a frightening manifestation of autocracy in an age where consumers are no longer people but viewing units monetized by advertisers and Zionists alike. Do they actually think all of us are this stupid?

The focus of news reports in the past few days so far remains on the five countries who decided to boycott the genocide songwashing event, rather than on those remaining in it. Why is Sweden, the country whose very national character is vested in the competition, still in it? Why is Finland, a country threatened by Russia, already ousted from the competition, not demand the same for Israel? Why on Earth is Greece, a country subjected to countless genocides over the centuries choose to sing side-by-side with the genociders and hope to get “points”?

The answer is simple: moral inertia, and widespread corruption. It is easier and more profitable for all involved to stay opted in, than to opt out. Eurovision is a 70-year-old business scam of broadcasting networks that we are only belatedly waking up to: for years we were sold into the “united by music” slogan that aimed to bring together a Europe torn apart by WW2, not realising that what the slogan actually meant was “turn up the volume so that no one hears the bombs while we make money”. Eurovision was sold to us as a pleasant distraction from conflict, oppression and discrimination, and this is why it was so embraced by communities such as LGBTQ. But putting conflict aside does not mean allowing into the contest warmongering states that thrive on conflict, and embracing joy does not mean I self-censor and become a dumb duck while an Israeli artist goes on stage to sing about “peace“. Bitch, I’m not that stupid, nor am I this desperate to be entertained. Even if your song is good, the messenger is a genocider, and I’m not up for this. Bye.

I’ve watched the contest since I was a kid, but just the mention of the name “Eurovision” now disgusts me enough to close the door on this shitfest forever. It is never too late for divorce! The music sucked a** anyway (except for Poli Genova). I’m more of an indie listener and this was never a platform for my type of music.

Autocracy and capitalism have long ago marched into the contest and taken over: the lack of democracy within the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) prevented states from voting on ousting Israel from the song contest last week, despite requests from the states themselves for a vote, and despite overwhelming support for this move by the public (latest UK poll: 69% in favour of ousting Israel, 89% among the Eurovision fan base). Fascism and Zionism turned Eurovision to Genovision, a cultural propaganda vehicle that legitimises the existence of a Zionist state who directly invests millions each year to influence Eurovision results in its favour through ample loopholes in the voting regulations. Despite this direct manipulation being out in the open, no penalties have been applied to the entity. The whole institution of Eurovision is actually one, big, fascist joke. I would laugh, but it’s terrifying.

Thousands of people depend on the contest each year for their livelihood. From TV producers to stage managers, influencers, journalists, not to mention the artists themselves, all of them depending on a contest that censors musicians and welcomes a Zionist entity that, ironically, has killed scores of journalists.

As employees, and as consumers, this is the time for us to use our biggest, and our only power, the power to simply walk out: to quit from a job that supports genocide, to refuse to watch a program that Zionist advertisers expect us to watch so they can cash in, to abstain from boosting the morale of a genocidal state.

This is no time for inertia, but for action. You don’t stay opted in. You cancel your subscription to the Zionism and opt out. Let’s create a new contest altogether from scratch and say bye bye to Eurovision. Because it is seriously corrupt TO-THE-BONE. As Poli sang in 2016 representing Bulgaria, “they will never break us down”
