The Great Silence of The Human Lambs

If there was ever a worst-case scenario of climate crisis acceleration and descent into an apocalyptic world, look no further than current reality.  That scenario is playing right now.  Humanity is a sinking ship under mutiny: all sailors are fighting with each other to become captain, literally as they die.

The direction this civilisation has chosen couldn’t be clearer, starker, darker.  On one hand you have food and water running out all over the planet as Earth becomes uninhabitable for complex civilisations.  And on the other, you have psychopathic oligarchs who have seized power though surveillance and subversion, while provocatively boasting by turning international institutions such as COP into a joke, in broad daylight. It doesn’t get more dystopian than this.

Yesterday LinkedIn blocked one of my posts again.  It was a short post about Delhi, India, having exceeded the safe air quality limit by 50-fold.  Of course I didn’t get any explanation why my post was blocked.  All I got when I tried to post was “sorry, an error occurred”.  I eventually posted it as a photo of my post from the other fascist platform, X, where surprisingly, it had gone almost viral. Meanwhile my website and other accounts are constantly under fake sign-in attacks from Elon’s BRICS friends: China, Brazil, India and of course, Russia. How much longer before they manage to hack us all? Probably no need to. Because when it comes to our consciousness and political IQ, we have already been hacked.

These incidents demonstrate what our world has turned into.  With our lives now largely inhabiting the online space, we all live under the tight grip of a technofascist dystopia that arbitrarily decides, at its own whim, who is allowed to speak and who isn’t.  All we get as an explanation is “sorry, an error occurred.  Try again later”.

The system is not simply censoring reality.  It is trolling us as it does.  The displays of arrogance of Elon and his friends demonstrate how powerful they are.  They’re not afraid of anything or anyone. Within a few years, the tech empires have moved from controlling reality and controlling who stays in power, to becoming the official leaders themselves.  Why hide?  No one can get to them.  They own everything and everyone, because they have control over the biggest narrative: reality, or at least what they tell us reality is.

We are living through the Great Silence:  truth has become officially extinct, and 8 billion human lambs are under Netflix anaesthesia as they sit on an accelerating conveyor belt on their way to the slaughterhouse.  At this rate, it won’t be much longer. Meanwhile this half-asleep, morally and intellectually bankrupt civilisation has left it to its most powerless members to contemplate its existential dead-end: the artists, hippies, “rogue” journalists, philosophers, and every other ostracised group that refuses to belong in this pathetic, self-destructive, predatory economic monster we once called “a society”

When a species becomes conscious of engineering its own collapse, yet completely resigns itself to it, there are many questions to be raised about the nature of human consciousness itself.  Were the lambs actually ever self-aware?

  1. Good piece, thank you, George! According to some great philosophers and spiritual thinkers, the challenge with humanity is living unaware; until we do, we’ll never have peace or balance.
“Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.”
    ― C.G. Jung

      1. Agreed, if you mean that we do not exist as an independent entity (but collectively as a part of the universe).
However, there is a choice one can make regarding self-awareness or consciousness (through relative freedom of will), which, according to spiritual leaders and psychological research, most people lack, with devastating consequences.
