Disaster Cannibalism: The Final Stage of Civilisational Collapse

When prey is scarce, Atlantic cod use younger members of their species as their protein source. When ponds dry up, frogs become carnivorous and devour their siblings. And when human nations compete for land and resources on an overpopulated planet, they begin exterminations.

As the climate crisis and population overshoot increase competition between nations, between natives and immigrants, and between billionaires and their subjects, humanity rapidly enters its cannibalistic phase. Zionism is not an ideology, but what happens to capitalism when it puts on a yarmulke and picks up a gun. Every successful economic system always keeps the cannibalism option in its back pocket: whether it is disaster capitalism, theocratic genocide or the shitholification of a nation, the goal is always the economic, cultural, and biological extermination of the opponent.

Israel leaders don’t want to end the war, because they say they want “the final solution” i.e. exterminations. They are using Hitler’s words just as they turn south Lebanon into another one of their death camps, as they begin to attack Iran’s civilian, cultural, health, energy and scientific infrastructure i.e. the institutions that comprise a society.

The Zionist genocides taking place may look like ethnic cleansing, but in biological terms, we are witnessing the descent of an entire species into cannibalism. After years of a slow global descent into fascism, a cultural threshold has now been crossed, swiftly ushering us into the age of disaster cannibalism, to shamelessly paraphrase Naomi Klein. Aggression is legitimised, genocide is normalised, infanticide advertised. Country borders and military alliances melt away in the frantic scramble for leftovers from the overshoot party that once was the industrial “revolution”. The food is now all gone, the drugs are giving you a comedown headache, and the afterparty music is pure violence. Humans have trashed this place. All left to do is fight for the last stale breadcrumb, the last crackpipe on the floor. It’s time to crawl again, as evolution makes a sharp 180.

Cannibalism may begin with a single individual in a shoal of cod, but it soon becomes contagious. To avoid being eaten, everyone becomes a cannibal. Wars become regionalised, then planetized, as the chain of aggression turns into a circle. It becomes the doom loop of the species.
