American Democracy: A Primer

As the oligarchy’s plan to deliberately destroy American society materialises, and the reasons why they do this become clear, what remains unclear is what the opposition plans to do: absolutely nothing.  People are already reminiscing the days of “democracy”, as if things used to be perfect.  But it was that “perfect” democracy which laid out the red carpet for fascism.  We can’t go back to a system which urges us to “vote”, when our only choice is in fact either a blue or a red oligarchy.

Admittedly the blue oligarchs were slightly more clever:  they at least tried to hide their genocides, corporate bosses and corruption behind a fairy tale of pretend equality, rip-off healthcare, and an ecological fraud called the Green New Deal.  The narrative collapsed spectacularly as Democrats failed on all the above, including uniting Americans as one society.

But was this really a failure, or a plan?

In fact, maintaining the divisions within American society suited both Republicans and Democrats equally:  Republicans made full use of a growing, uneducated and indignant lower class that will believe anything, while Democrats found fertile ground in this to pretend that they are a highly progressive party, on paper only of course.  In reality, both parties were glossy brochures for a future society they never planned to actually deliver.  Their plans were strikingly similar: secure corporate backing for their bullshit, sell their bullshit to the people, become the next government, and pay back their sponsors.

Oh yes…and maybe one day, the people.

  1. As well-documented in “Pankaj Mishra’s book Age of Anger – a history of the present,” https://us.macmillan.com/books/9781250159304/ageofanger/ you will see that the logical end-point of western philosophical thought is fascism, as routed through Italy to Modi’s India, and via Opus dei from Spain to American as illustrated by Craig Unger’s American Kompromat https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/635379/american-kompromat-by-craig-unger/ and developing into the Federalist Society and Billy Barr (Solicitor General) working to develop the unitary presidency in regime “45.” Along with that, the actions of the neo-liberals through Mont Pelerin Society, Heritage Foundation, etc., have been paving the way for the business/government union (Fascism) since the ate 1940s. They have changed the frame of public thought so that everyone parrots their talking points. Welcome to Gilead.

  2. On the one hand, I think you should watch Rachel Maddow’s show because she talks a lot about the Resistance going on right now. On the other hand, I see your point because the Clintons dragged the Democratic Party rightward on economic policies and that led to a lot of the working class voting Republican because they already leaned conservative on social issues.
