It Is Never a War. It Is Always a Business

The minute a human becomes a soldier, they become a fast-moving consumer good in the war sausage factory: entering the factory as a life form with an identity and soul, and processed into an anonymous object that is hurled against other anonymous objects. War is the ultimate dehumanization.

I learned this first hand when I was forced into the army for 9 months by my government. No one had ever talked down to me the way army superiors talk. I was no longer a human, but someone’s tool. Later on when I joined the corporate world, the vibe was eerily familiar: the only difference between an army and a corporation is the dress code, and the only distinction between a slave and an employee is that the latter is given a salary, and brainwashed to believe that they have consciously chosen this lifestyle.

In Greece, one of the most visited sites in the country is a memorial right in front of the parliament called “Monument to The Unknown Soldier”, dedicated to all fallen army personnel whose bodies were either never recovered or too maimed to be formally identified. War machines always praise unsung and unnamed heroes, but only after they have forbidden them from singing, stripped them of their name, and turned them into cannon fodder.

Wars may be waged on behalf of the 1%, but they are always fought and paid for by entire nations. A “nation” that owes its existence to genocide, subsists through war, and wages war on its own people is not a nation. It is a weapons supermarket, and its citizens are the bullets. US and Israel are showing the rest of the world that capitalism does not create peace, but militarized states that turn people into consumables, war into an industry, and genocide into a business.
