In The Grip of Necrocapitalism (Part 3)

The Thing of course is also completely in charge of all power structures and the government.  The problem with authority will always be that it cares more about maintaining itself than about serving the well-being of the people it was meant to represent. This is true regardless of who is in power. The role of all governments is, and has always been, to maintain the self-destructive economic system which brought the government to power in the first place. This ensures that there is no change of government, which is the first and foremost goal of every political party.  In this sense, it can be argued that both government and religion are servants of the Thing: they came into existence to protect economic oligarchs, by manipulating people into submission.  Economic oligarchs in turn are the direct engineers of the Thing.

In fact, the only type of economy which humans have experienced in the last few hundred years is one where the Thing increasingly dominates everything.  Over millennia we matured into an elaborate web of laws, religions, governance systems and technologies enabling wealth accumulation through the widespread theft of people, beings, and the resources they were originally meant to share.  We refer to this as civilization, but it is only one possible version of it.  Our profit-obsessed society has become nothing but a 24-hour sweatshop which only serves profit.  In this pointless rat race, no one is allowed to stand still, to stay content, or stay in the present.  We are all working zombies.  We are all working for the Thing.

The Numerization of Everything

The industrial revolution was the point when this civilisation completely lost it.  Like a virus, it became more concerned with making infinite copies of itself, rather than contemplating the meaning and purpose of that which it was making copies of.  This was also the time when our society officially shifted from qualitative to quantitative measures of success.  A narrative of continued economic growth and procreation, the very toxic time bomb which will end both the Thing and us, had to be developed by both governments and religion in order to continue propping up the psychonomy.  Today, all leaders have espoused this narrative, and they feel obliged to talk about achieving an economic and population boost for their nations, many of them knowing very well that the pursuit of such growth ultimately guarantees a spectacular extinction for almost every life form on Earth, including themselves.   But they cannot change their propaganda.  The political survival of these leaders, not to mention the credit rating of entire nations they represent, is dependent on the necrocapitalist metrics the Thing uses to measure and monitor the psychonomy.  Even people themselves are not seen as humans anymore, but as singular GDP units.  Our metrics-driven world has forever redefined happiness: there is an obsession to measure it, in ever so many different quantitative ways, rather than to simply experience it, and allow people to evaluate it and pursue it based on their own personal criteria.  This fundamentally limits their prospects of ever attaining it.

  1. Agressive alpha male types fell in love with power and there was no turning back. Unable to mature past chimpish behaviour. Sad end to life and the clever human primate on a possibly very unique planetary creation. Our collective lot in life is/was mature or die off. Power fantasy is fatal to all “so called” higher life.
