Announcement To My Readers: I’m Going “Professional”

(Takes deep breath)

So, I’ve just put up a paid subscription option on this blog, and I wanted to let you know what its about: EVERYTHING IS STILL COMPLETELY FREE ON HERE. The paid subscription is an opportunity for those of you who have been reading and liking my work either recently or over the past several years (and can spare a few coins a month) to continue to motivate me.

Many of you have said you would rather support me directly rather than pay the big, evil Amazon empire, so here’s your chance! Unfortunately this empire allows me to self-publish at zero cost which is why I’m with them in the first place.

Capitalism has won but it can’t have everything, and thought must remain free. Unlike what some other authors or journalists do, my site will remain COMPLETELY FREE because I don’t think it’s right to paywall existentially important content during an existential crisis. But if you appreciate any of the work I’ve done over the years, consider joining as a paid subscriber so it can continue. I have minimal overheads, no sponsors to sell myself to, bosses who tell me what to write, or staff I have to pay. It’s just me. This freedom does mean though that your support makes a huge difference.

Anyway, let’s try this for now.

HOW TO DO IT: if you click “unsubscribe” and then press the “subscribe” button again, you will see the two options: paid, or free.

Love, George

  1. Congratulations, George,

I’ve been reading your posts on Twitter for some time and just recently signed up. I can’t make the leap to a paid subscription right now, but I think you deserve the support.

    Sincerely,

  3. Unemployed and with poor prospects, I must currently save where I can (I will celebrate an employment with a paid sub).

I love your work and point people to it as often as possible (including from my blog series on civilisational collapse), and I have your books high on my TBR pile (I’m still hoping for a package deal sometime).

Best of luck going pro, and thank you for all your juicy writing.
