Crest

They begin their lives humbly, at first.

But soon, inflated by ambition, they rise.

Foolishly impatient to grow,

to tower over other waves fearlessly,

only to realise that they got ahead of themselves.

Their demise begins at the top:

first a small crack, then a stampede of suicidal avalanches,

tumbling over each other.

The walls that rise the fastest,

are those who break down first,

even before they reach the shore.

  1. Our demise has begun. And yet the wave knows that she can never die,she is water. No beginning, no end, no fear of dying, as she can only transform. maybe into a cloud, maybe into tea, maybe into a poem… Beautiful poem.
